Master of Public Health (MPH) - Online distance learning
Master of Public Health (MPH)
This programme offers an innovative approach to learning, meeting the training needs for health professionals interested in a career in public health or those seeking new skills in this area.
Contemporary public health practice requires practitioners to be adaptable and flexible, with a broad experience of a range of subject areas. Both the MPH and PGDip have three core compulsory units:
- Evidence Based Practice
- Fundamentals of Epidemiology
We hold an (optional) two day face-to-face residential induction at the university for first year students at the start of their studies.
The programme has a dedicated team of eLearning technologists to help support you throughout your studies and resolve any issues you might have on a one-to-one basis.

Public Health at Manchester
Most of our students complete the programme part time whist working in a wide variety of jobs and sectors. Some use their experience and qualification to help them move into predominantly public health related roles.
Many of our students, e.g. health promotion staff, GPs, hospital doctors, pharmacists, infection control nurses, managers, researchers, take the programme to give them public health skills and expertise to apply within their own profession and/or setting.
