Set-up funding
The large investment that was required to set-up and establish the WMIC has been made possible by major contributions from the following funding partners. In addition to these key contributions we have also received a number of smaller but equally valuable private donations.

The Wolfson Foundation
The Wolfson Foundation is a charitable foundation set up in 1955. Grants are made to registered charities in the UK (or organisations with charitable status). The Foundation supports projects across the fields of science and technology, medical research and health, education and the arts, currently allocating some £35m per annum.

Manchester Cancer Research Centre
Manchester already boasts a superb cancer research community and the development of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) builds on that success. Cancer touches many of our lives, and some of the statistics about the incidence are not easy reading. Thanks, though, to earlier detection and better treatment more cancer patients are surviving.

The Medical Research Council
