Julian Davis
Interim Head, School of Biomedicine

Julian Davis has been Professor of Medicine at the University since 1998, and is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Manchester Royal Infirmary. He trained at Edinburgh University did his PhD at the University of Birmingham with Michael Sheppard. His particular research interests are in pituitary biology and in particular in prolactin and growth hormone gene regulation. His research has involved a long standing collaboration with Professor Mike White (Faculty of Life Sciences) concerning the nature of oscillating patterns of gene expression in living cells, together with interests in the mechanisms of pituitary cell proliferation.
Julian has been leader of the Endocrinology Research Group for a number of years, and became Head of the Developmental Biomedicine Research Group in 2009, before taking on the role of Interim Head of School for the School of Biomedicine. He has served on a number of national committees including the Wellcome Trust Physiological Sciences Panel and currently the MRC Population and Systems Medicine Board.
